Rachel’s Client Garden photos contain both images scanned from photos of installations in the late 1990′s and early 2000′s up to the most recent digital photos of her newest designs. You’ll see a variety of locations and garden sizes, from the simplest mailbox garden to gardens anchored with terraced retaining walls, flagstone pathways, wooden arbors and rustic trellises.

A quick peek at some transformed spaces. Rachel carries her camera to site analyses to take photos to use for designing the gardens when she returns to her office, and tries to remember (at Janet’s urging) to take some photos after the installation is complete, or when she returns for maintenance at a later date. Sometimes these photos are taken at a similar location or angle, making “Before” and “After” comparisons fun and interesting!

Beginning in Spring 2003 Rachel began transforming two rather plain lots into a garden paradise. After the purchase of an adjoining lot, (plus a family lot on the other side of the house with free reign for Rachel’s creativity), Rachel has created approximately eleven major gardens, a natural-looking fish pond, a picnic area with campfire pit and a nature trail around the perimeter of the property.

In May 2006 Janet decided to photograph the different birds landing on the arbor outside the kitchen window for a two days in May. The pond that Rachel put in the yard was attracting migrating warblers that weren’t usually seen in the yard. This sparked Janet’s interest to continue photographing birds, and later the wildlife in and around the yard, pond and gardens.
